Public Works: Building Your Personal Website with DesignLab

This workshop, in collaboration with DesignLab, will focus on best practices for content organization and design for personal websites and portfolios for academics and early career professionals. Participants will discuss hosting platforms and review examples of successful online storytelling for sharing your work with both academic and non-academic audiences. This workshop will also cover resources for anyone looking to professionalize their online presence–from image and font databases to simple design tips and tricks. 

RSVPs are required and seats are limited. Questions and topics of interest will be collected ahead of time.

Workshop Instructor: Mallory Vanmeeter, DesignLab Consultant 

Mallory is a consultant at the UW-Madison DesignLab and a PhD candidate in Civil Society and Community Research. DesignLab is a free resource dedicated to helping everyone on campus design more effective digital media products. Mallory also works with the Center for Community and Nonprofit Studies on strategic communication and design across their website, newsletter, and other outreach materials. In her graduate research, Mallory studies community-based solutions to youth homelessness, including host home programs and informal shared housing.
