This workshop focuses on libraries, collections, and specific documents related to psychedelic history and society. One goal is to shine a spotlight on the humanities and particularly how we collect, organize, appraise, and use historical written materials/objects in developing new knowledge. Another goal is to assess how we do this in an ethical way, and how work in libraries, archives, museums, and other heritage sector spaces contributes to the so-called “psychedelic renaissance.”
Workshop Schedule:
12:00-1:00 PM
Memorial Library Latin American Archivist Laura Martin will give a short viewing tour of the recently acquired 1619 document prohibiting the use of peyote in Colonial Spanish America.
*The tour is a separate add-on to the main workshop. Please indicate if you are interested below. Space is limited for this tour.
