Bodies and the Production of Perversity
The 2006-2007 workshop examined the production of perversity through analysis of four different types of bodies (tortured bodies, sexualized bodies, racialized bodies, technological bodies). We focused on how the productive and reproductive labor of bodies both enacted and resisted perversion.
We now seek to tighten our focus, engaging more fully the reproductive body and its role as an enactor and object of perversion. Building on our work thus far, we intend to examine how technology, race, and sexuality interact with reproductive bodies to produce locally- and globally- operating valences of valuable, dysgenic, dystopic, illegitimate, unnatural, sacred, and perverse embodiment.
