Great World Texts

The God of Small Things in Wisconsin

The God of Small Things in Wisconsin builds upon the success of Antigone in Wisconsin, The Arabian Nights in Wisconsin, and the other successful years of the Great World Texts in Wisconsin Program. During the 2012-2013 academic year, high school and college classes from across the state participated in reading Arundhati Roy's novel. Educators attended two all-day colloquia, on October 1, 2012 and on February 4, 2013, where they received an Educators' Guide to Teaching The God of Small Things, heard talks from UW-Madison experts on the text and its contexts, and collaborated to plan their curricula.

A spring conference will take place on March 20, 2013, where students will present their work, participate in workshop activities, and engage in conversation with students from around the state.  They will also have opportunity to engage directly with the author, Arundhati Roy, our keynote speaker for the Spring Student Conference.
