Humanities NOW, a public humanities program of the Center for Humanities at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, invites thoughtful and interdisciplinary examination of important contemporary issues. Through its lecture series and blog project, the program expands the Wisconsin Idea—the “boundaries of the university are the boundaries of the state”—to explore issues of local and global interest through the lens of history, literature, philosophy, culture, and art.

Contributors are public thinkers, including faculty, students, and community members in Madison and beyond. The individual opinions of contributors may not reflect the position of the Center; but the Center is committed to hosting and fostering conversations which connect the humanities to the broader conditions of daily life.
