About the Building
Completed in 2010, the Discovery Building is four stories, occupying the entire 1300 block of University Avenue (bordered by Campus Drive, North Randall Avenue, and North Orchard Street). The building houses the Morgridge Institute for Research and the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery. The building contains approximately 106,000 assignable square feet of research space, including wet and dry laboratories, research support areas, core facilities, and offices. The teaching labs host a wide range of education programs for K-12 and college students, science teachers, and the public. The main floor of the facility was built as a Town Center and includes a large event space (the forum) and public gathering spaces and restaurants.
