Focus on Humanities
About

UW humanities faculty are doing amazing things, and the Center for the Humanities, along with the Institute for Research in the Humanities, brings them to the stage to share their work.

Focus on the Humanities: Distinguished Faculty Lectures series has featured Steven Nadler on Spinoza, William Cronon on the elusiveness of sustainability, Julia Murray on Confucius, Rob Nixon on slow violence and the environmentalism of the poor, and other faculty whose work is often globally recognized for its significance to the field.

The series' goal is not only to showcase faculty research, but to invite campus and community members to engage with cutting-edge ideas of universal historical, political, philosophical, religious, and literary importance.

Focus on the Humanities: Distinguished Faculty Lectures is presented in collaboration with the Institute for Research in the Humanities, a close partner to the Center. Funded through the generous support of the Anonymous Fund of the College of Letters & Science.
