"What is the Human?" is a UW-Madison interdisciplinary and multidimensional initiative, made possible through support from the Robert F. and Jean E. Holtz Fund of the University of Wisconsin Foundation, aimed at revitalization of intellectual and institutional relationships between the sciences and the humanities. Housed at the Center for the Humanities, with partnership from the Holtz Center for Science and Technology Studies and the Institute for Research in the Humanities, the core faculty members in this initiative are from the departments or programs in Anatomy, Anthropology, Art History, Bacteriology, Botany, Chemistry, English, French, Gender and Women's Studies, German, Geology, History, the History of Medicine, the History of Science, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Neurology, Pediatrics, Philosophy, Sociology, and Visual Culture.
